Francisco Enrique González-Díaz
Francisco Enrique González-Díaz is a partner with Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton. His practice focuses on European and Spanish competition law, including mergers and acquisitions, restrictive practices, abuse of dominance and State aid. Between 1998 and 2003, Mr. González-Díaz held a number of positions within the European institutions, including heading one of the enforcement units of the European Commission’s Merger Task Force and leading the European Commission in its review of a number of large and complex cases in a wide array of market sectors. Between 1996 and 1998, Mr. González-Díaz clerked for Judge García Valdecasas at the European Court of First Instance in Luxembourg. From 1990 to 1996, Mr. González-Díaz was a member of the European Commission’s Legal Service. His responsibilities included providing legal advice to the European Commission, in particular to DG Competition, and representing the European Commission before the European Courts in Luxembourg in a significant number of cases on a wide range of issues arising under the EC Treaty. Mr. González-Díaz has Law degrees from the University of Granada, the Free University of Brussels and
